Monochrome

Can you imagine that this is my first long sleeve striped shirt – me neither. But i was never a big fan of t-shirts or simple tees in general but over the last few weeks i finally came to the conclusion that classic wardrobe staples are a must and every woman should own at least a few basic pieces in order to have a well-balanced closet. So today i want to show you a pretty casual look which i usually prefer on a lazy sunday, and what’s better then a cozy dustercoat and comfortable slippers.

The Perfect Trench Coat

I guess you’ve already heard about the 10 or 15 must-have items for a classic timeless wardrobe – like a little black dress, the perfect white blouse/shirt, a super flattering dark washed jeans, the perfect black blazer and pumps and of course the ultimate long trench coat which every women should have in their closet. And yes, i’ve been lusting after a classic trench coat for a really long time. So at the end of July i was finally able to cross off this item of my wishlist because lucky me i stumbeld on a really good deal at Zara. I couldn’t believe my eyes – everything was perfect! The length, the proportions, the color, the fabric (nothing worse than a waterproof windbraker fabric or in other words 100% shiny polyester) and on top of that this piece of clothing was on sale! Nailed it! In my opinion a good trench coat can bring any outfit to the next level – this coat is perfect for work, dinners, events, dates and even for grocery shopping! It’s such a versaitle piece which instantly adds a bit of drama to your look!

Love at first Sight: The Red Dress

A few months ago i a read an article that the average woman owns over 20 piece of unworn clothing and i guess most of us women only wear 60% or 70 % (or less) of our wardrobe throughout the year - or am i too dramatic in this case!? I know that i've worn every single piece of my closet i own but not every piece on rotation which should be the case of (almost) every piece. My plan is definitely to take full advantage of my wardrobe and simply avoid buying things i would only wear less than three times over the next few weeks or let's say months (we all know that it also depends on the season).

You have to know that I'm the kind of person who loves to experiment with different styles and i would like to call myself an eclectic person when it comes to fashion. But every now and then it also happens that i'm simply not sure about a specific piece which is either already hanging in my closet or hanging on a clothing rack in a shop - and precisely this scenario happened last week when i found this red dress. I wasn't sure about it in the first place because in all honesty i consider myself a "pants-person" and i usually reach out for a little bit more masculine pieces when i'm browsing through the shops but sometimes my inner girly girl comes through and suddenly i pay attention to pieces which matches my style in no sense - in this case i'm talking about this red dress. At first i was really blown away by the shape & color but then i thought it was way to feminine for my taste and that i won't be able to wear this dress more than three times over the next few weeks but the fact that i was always looking for a dress with this kind of cut got me thinking - but not in a positive way. I ended up leaving the store and by the minute i got home i instantly regret the decision that i didn't pick up the dress - usually it's the other way round but over the last few years i found myself in such situations more than necessary. But you know the quote ‘Hope dies last" and i knew that my inner girl was right - the dress was meant to be mine. Oh, and speaking of love at first sight - i'm also superhappy about my new Fossil bag which is not only super roomy but also super versatile at the same time. And you know how often i change bags - not that often i would say. I feel i can already say that you'll probably get to see this bag a lot due to fact that i don't even have a problem with outfit combination or color combination because it simply works perfectly with every shade!

Vintage Dress

It’s no secret that i’m still a HUGE vintage fan and that I’ve collected a number of unique pieces over the last few years. But over the last few months i was definitely more drawn to my contemporary pieces and i totally forgot about my unique treasures. I’m not sure but i guess that my love for vintage clothing started 8 years ago when i was 18 when i accidentally stumbeld over a tiny advertisement of a really small shop which claimed to sell vintage clothing and other stuff from the past.  At first i was a little bit sceptical but thank god i changed my mind because ever since then i've managed to found the most amazing pieces at unbeatable prices – like this dress i’m wearing in this post. I bought it more than 5 years ago but this is such a timeless and meaningful piece which will always remain in my closet!

Bold Lipstick

It’s been a while since i last posted a beauty related article and honestly it was actually my intention to get this series a little bit more active but somehow i totally forgot about it.

So my last make up look was definitely the opposite compared to this one but this is exactly what i love about make up – it can instantly turn you into a completely different person within a few steps. However, I wanted to come up with a pretty simple look but dramatic at the same time and since i got inspired by so many pictures of different make up artists (for example Linda Hallbergs) which i follow on instagram i felt the urge to post one of my favorite look. In my case i'm talking about a really rich and bold lip color combined with a 'Nicole Richie hairdo" which she's rocking in the first episode of Candidly Nicole (yes she's back on TV and she's better than ever). So a bold lip color is  in my opinion such an easy way to add drama and elegance at same time and i guess this dark aubergine-colored one is doing its job pretty good! So you may want to know which other products i’ve used to create this look - so here we go!

First things first, foundation: my favorite one is defnitely the L’oréal Nude Magique Eau de Teint - why! Because it simply feels like nothing on your skin, blends beautifully, reduces redness and creates a natural finish plus you only need a tiny amount to get a light layer all over the face. By the way, it also rumblings of being a Giorgo Armani Maestro dupe but sorry i don’t have the proof since i’ve never tried out this foundation! First i was a little bit sceptical and thought that this formula might be be a little bit too liquidy for my personal taste but i’m glad that i gave it a try – and guess what -  i’ve repurchased this product ever since January! Another great drugstore product which became such a staple in my make up collection is definitely the Fit Me Concealer and of course every now and then i try to switch things but in the end i always end up buying this one.

When it comes to my eyebrows i usually start by using my Copines eyebrow pencil  to create my preferred  shape and then fill them in with my brow powder from Essence in order to achieve a look which works perfectly with my hair color. I have to say that over the years i've been trying to figure out which style suits me the most but every now and then i'm having those bad eyebrow days or i'm simply too motivated that i often end up looking like someone from the Sesame Street -  i guess you all know who i mean! To set everything in place i always use my favorite translucent eyebrow gel from Alverede but for this look i skipped the second step just because it would have been a little bit too strong in general. As you can see i applied minimal eye make up by only using one coat of mascara and really focused on the lips which is actually a mixture of two colors. The main color is the Nicka K Hydro Lipstick NY006 (a brand from New York that i've never heard of before) that i received a few months ago during a Glossybox event which already made me excited for fall. To get a little bit more depth i also applied a little bit of an old Isabelle Lancray Lipstick which is sadly no longer available but i still own a bunch of products of this brand due to the fact that my mom worked as a beautician. The next step is probably my favorite. As you guys probably know i'm such a bronzer and blush lover but over the last few months i also became a huge fan of (golden) highlighter. So to complete my look i applied a bronzing powder from Modelcocosmetics, Bobbie Brown Shimmer Brick Compact Blush in the color Rose and the Giant Sun Powder from Gosh to get those glowy cheeks. So let me know what you think!

Superlight Pants

Like WhoWhatWear said in one of their recent post that there’s probably one particualr  person who probably has the most influence in the development of your personal style – do you have a guess?!  Well without this person i would totally wear someting different in this post because unfortunately my mom (yes this is the person i’m talking about) bought these pants last year in a wrong size and so i was fortunate enough to welcome a new item which was 100% necessary to complete my summer wardrobe....because i’ve realizied that over the last few years i’ve accumulated a lot of light blouses or let’s light pieces in genereal but no light pants particularly for those hot and humid summer days that we're having every now and then here in Vienna. For some reason i never got around to wear them last year and i wish hadn't waited this long because these pants are probably the most comfortable pants i own.
